| Many Lupus organizations use an orange ribbon to represent Lupus awareness. In support of organizations such as Lupus LA, The S.L.E. Lupus Foundation, and The Lupus Alliance of America we had our first biannual orange week. Our entire website went orange, we introduced 2 new orange awareness designs and 7 new orange awareness ribbon items. |
| Lady Gaga |
| On June 1st, world wide superstar pop singer and performer, Lady Gaga, gave an interview to Larry King Live. She told Larry that she had tested "borderline positive" for Lupus but that she did not have symptoms of Lupus and therefore has not been diagnosed with the disease. At least 4 of the 11 ACR criteria are required to make a Lupus diagnosis. |
| CellCept |
| In a recent study, CellCept (Mycophenolate Mofetil) met it's primary endpoint in patients with Lupus Nephritis. The drug proved statistically significantly more effective than azathioprine in delaying relapse. Because of the positive results, the drug companies are considering an application for FDA approval for this use of the drug. |

| Human Genome Sciences and Glaxo Smith Kline announced this week that they have filed for approval from the U.S. FDA for approval and the EMA to market BENLYSTA (belimumab) for the treatment of SLE. If approved it will be the first Lupus treatment approved in over 50 years. |
