Lupus Awareness Month

May is Lupus Awareness Month.  There are many ways to celebrate Lupus Awareness Month include writing to your legislators urging them to fund Lupus awareness and research, wearing Lupus Awareness Month products, discussing your story and experiences with your family, friends and co-workers, or be getting involved with the many events and awareness campaigns that are scheduled during May.  Visit our Lupus events calendar to get involved in an event near you.

World Lupus Day

Since 2004 May 10th has been World Lupus Day.  The World Lupus Day Steering Committee issued a proclamation that is a call to action for every government to increase public funding of Lupus research, awareness and patient services. On this day, there are also many events, walks and conferences scheduled all over the globe aimed at raising Lupus Awareness, raising money for Lupus research, and finding new and innovative ways of treating the disease.  You can also participate by planning an event, wearing World Lupus Day Products, and/or contacting your government officials asking them to support Lupus awareness and research.

Ad Council Campaign

On March 31st the Ad Council announced their new campaign for Lupus Awareness.  They are sending Public Service Announcements to media outlets nationwide. The new PSAs feature real women who have lupus. They portray women who have symptoms that might be related to lupus but these women have not yet asked their doctors the most important question, “Could I have lupus?” The PSAs conclude with the tagline, “For answers. For support. For hope.”  To find out how you can help promote this campaign visit our Ad Council Campaign Page.
