We have spoken with so many Lupus patients who have not been properly educated about their medications, how to take them and the possible side effects. Doctors and Pharmacists can not always be relied on to educate their patients. They don't always tell patients on Plaquenil that they need to get eye exams every 6 months. They don't always tell those taking CellCept not to eat 2 hours before or 1 hour after taking this medication. As a patient you have to ask questions, and research things yourself. There are many reliable sources of information such as Our Lupus Treatments Page, Drugs.com, WebMD.com, and more. As always, consult your doctor before making ANY medical decisions. |
You can be a part of our memory wall! All you have to do is pick your brick(s), and upload your favorite picture. It only costs $10 and all proceeds go to the Lupus Foundation of America's Lupus Research Fund. The wall, once finished will be posted on our website.
Visit our wall here. Click on the brick(s) you would like and click on Make Donation. Follow the on-screen instructions to make your donation and upload your picture. Thank you for participating in the fundraiser for Lupus research. We will also be doing other fundraisers for other research projects and foundations in the future. |
If you are unable to attend this year's Lupus Foundation of America Advocacy Day (March 2nd-3rd) in Washington D.C., you can still participate! We are asking all who have an interest in Lupus research to contact their representatives on Capital Hill on Tuesday March 3rd. Lupus patients and their supporters from all over the country will be meeting with members of the US House of Representatives and the US Senate. Your phone calls, letters and emails will help reinforce their efforts. You can get contact information for your congress people on our Write Your Legislators Page. Sample letters/emails are also available by issue. |
