Co Democrats Spring Dinner 5/2/08 - Kendra and Char attended
this event hoping to speak with Senator Harkin and Rep. Boswell
however their planes were delayed and Rep. Boswell did not make
it to the event and Sen. Harkin was only able to stop in for a
quick speech. We did however give a

Button and a
wristband
to the entertainment for the evening, political comedian
Jeff
Kreisler.
World
Lupus Day Proclamation - On April 11, 2008 we received a copy of
the World Lupus Day Proclamation as our Governor, Chet Culver
has issued it.
LFA
Advocacy Day 3/10-11/08 - Unfortunately Kendra spent 2 days in
the hospital and we were unable to make the trip to D.C. this
year. Best of luck to all who made it, hope to see you

Jefferson
Jackson Dinner, 11/10/07 - Another successful event for
Kendra and her grandmother. The goal of this event was to
thank Hillary for co-sponsoring the
Lupus REACH Amendments. There were many senators and
house members at this event and we did bring top 10 lists,
however, as expected we were unable to get near any of them as
9000 people attended this event. We were told ahead of
time that we would likely get a chance to be near Hillary
Clinton. Sure enough, she came down the stairs where we
were waiting at her left. She turned right to us and we
both shook her hand and thanked her for co-sponsoring. We
asked if we could get a picture and we did. We can't wait
until the next event!

Edwards Event, 11/3/07 - Kendra was not able to attend but did
drop by
Lupus Awareness
Ribbon cookies.
Polk Co. Democrats Fall
Dinner, 10/19/07 - Kendra and her grandmother attended this
event and had great success! They again brought
Top 10 lists, but this time, they were
able to give them to 4 senators. First Kendra's
grandmother gave it to Joe Biden
who thought he had already co-sponsored, 2 days later on Monday
he did. He also stopped by Kendra's table shook her hand
and said some encouraging words. Second they gave it to
Tom Harkin, Iowa's senator. Third they gave it to
Chris Dodd's wife to hand to
her husband. Lastly, Kendra handed one to
Hillary Clinton who said
"oh yeah, I definitely support this, can I keep this?"
They quickly replied yes and spoke briefly with her about it's
importance. She also co-sponsored the legislation within
the week. What an event!
Harkin Steak Fry,
9/16/07 - Kendra and her grandmother attended this event
excited to hand out the Top 10 Reasons to
Co-Sponsor the Lupus REACH Amendments of 2007 to all the
democratic candidates in congress. However, 12,000 people
showed up that day and they were not able to get close to
anyone.
Ankeny Days Parade &
Summerfest, 7/14/07 - Kendra and Matthew drove the
Hillary Clinton float and
as is the tradition here in Iowa they threw candy to the
spectators, however our candy was attached to cards with Lupus
facts on them. They threw 500 cards in total. They
attended the Ankeny Area Democrats Summerfest BBQ where they
spoke with Iowa's US House Member Leonard Boswell. They
thanked him for co-sponsoring the REACH Amendments and invited
him to Iowa's Walk for Lupus Now. He handed the
information we gave him to his Iowa office manager and said
"Anything we can do to help them, do it". He did later
agree to attend the walk however was held up in Washington and
was unable to attend.
Hillary and Bill
Clinton @ the Iowa State Fair Grounds, 7/2/07 - Kendra was
accompanied to this event by her step-father. She wore a
Cure4Lupus.org T-Shirt,
buttons and
jewelry.
Kendra's step-father tossed a Cure4Lupus.org Logo Button with a
wristband attached to Bill and said "Please give this to
Hillary". Bill looked at the button and replied "will do".
Kendra also spoke with former Iowa Governor and former 2008
presidential candidate about Lupus and Iowa's Walk for Lupus
Now.
Hillary Clinton's first
town hall meeting, 1/27/07 - Kendra attended this event with
her grandmother. She wore
Cure4Lupus.org products and they tried to ask a question
about Lupus however Hillary
had to leave before she got to their question.
